Stock division

THE CLASS

Simple parts make precision easier to see.

Stock is the traditional starting division: a molded sit-up car built from the official kit and current plan. The limited design freedom puts the emphasis on careful assembly, driver coaching, alignment, legal weight placement, and learning how a race is run.

Current ISBD eligibility is effectively ages 7 through 13, with a 198-200 pound race-weight window. NDR's current site uses age 7 until the 14th birthday and a 200-pound Z-Glas maximum, but its tail-weight rule differs from ISBD. Confirm the organization before applying any number.

BUILD PRIORITIES

A square, safe baseline is the first speed package.

1. Inventory official parts against the current Stock plan.
2. Keep the floorboard, shell, axles, and hardware unaltered except where the plan expressly directs work.
3. Install brake and steering so the racer has positive control through full travel.
4. Fit foam and driver position before final ballast work.
5. Triangulate, check crossbind, and measure spindle direction with trained clinic help.
6. Secure permitted weights and recheck total and axle scales in full race gear.
7. Practice a still launch, eyes-up line, minimal steering corrections, and a complete braking stop.

WHERE TIME DISAPPEARS

Do not tune around a basic defect.

• A front axle that is not centered or a rear axle that is not triangulated.
• Crossbind hidden by uneven floors, changing driver posture, or wheel diameter.
• Loose steering cable or excessive tension that moves axle geometry.
• Ballast adjusted to a theoretical target before the driver can repeat position.
• A fast-looking body tweak, cleaner, lubricant, wheel treatment, or axle alteration that is not legal.

Stock rewards process. Record every measurement and let the racer understand what changed. That skill transfers to every faster division.
